Mat 16:1 Καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ Φαρισαῖοι καὶ Σαδδουκαῖοι πειράζοντες ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν σημεῖον ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐπιδεῖξαι αὐτοῖς
1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. |

2 He answered and said to them, When it is evening, you say, |
Mat 16:2 now answering he said to them an evening comes you are saying fair weather for the heaven is red |
Mat 16:2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
Mat 16:3 καὶ πρωΐ Σήμερον χειμών, πυρράζει γὰρ στυγνάζων ὁ οὐρανός· ὑποκριταί, τὸ μὲν πρόσωπον τοῦ οὐρανοῦ γινώσκετε διακρίνειν, τὰ δὲ σημεῖα τῶν καιρῶν οὐ δύνασθε
3 And in the morning, |
Mat 16:3 and winter morning today for the heaven is red lowering o hypocrites you are knowing to be judging indeed the face of heaven now are you [enabling] not signs of the seasons |
Mat 16:3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
Mat 16:4 Γενεὰ πονηρὰ καὶ μοιχαλὶς σημεῖον ἐπιζητεῖ καὶ σημεῖον οὐ δοθήσεται αὐτῇ εἰ μὴ τὸ σημεῖον Ἰωνᾶ τοῦ προφήτου καὶ καταλιπὼν αὐτοὺς ἀπῆλθεν
4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. |
Mat 16:4 An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign and no sign shall be given to it not the sign of the prophet Jonas and leaving them he departed |

Mat 16:5 Καὶ ἐλθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πέραν ἐπελάθοντο ἄρτους λαβεῖν
5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. |

6 Then Jesus said to them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. |

7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, |

Mat 16:8 γνοὺς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, Τί διαλογίζεσθε ἐν ἑαυτοῖς ὀλιγόπιστοι ὅτι ἄρτους οὐκ ἐλάβετε

Mat 16:8 now Jesus on knowing he said to them one of little faith what you are reasoning among themselves that received you not loaves |
Mat 16:8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
Mat 16:9 οὔπω νοεῖτε οὐδὲ μνημονεύετε τοὺς πέντε ἄρτους τῶν πεντακισχιλίων καὶ πόσους κοφίνους ἐλάβετε
9 Do you not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up? |

11 How is it that you do not understand that I spoke |
Mat 16:11 How that you are understanding not I said not to you concerning bread be heeding the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees |

12 Then understood they how that he bade |

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? |

Mat 16:14 οἱ δὲ εἰπον, Οἱ μὲν Ἰωάννην τὸν βαπτιστήν, ἄλλοι δὲ Ἠλίαν, ἕτεροι δὲ Ἰερεμίαν, ἢ ἕνα τῶν προφητῶν
14 And they said, Some |

Mat 16:15 λέγει αὐτοῖς Ὑμεῖς δὲ τίνα με λέγετε εἶναι
15 He said to them, But whom say you that I am? |

Mat 16:16 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Σίμων Πέτρος εἶπεν Σὺ εἶ ὁ Χριστὸς ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ζῶντος
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, You art the Christ, the Son of the living God. |

Mat 16:17 καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ Μακάριος εἶ Σίμων Βαρ Ἰωνᾶ, ὅτι σὰρξ καὶ αἷμα οὐκ ἀπεκάλυψέν σοι ἀλλ' ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς
17 And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed art you, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed |
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answering he said to him bless are you Simon Bar Jona that flesh and blood reveals not to you howbeit my Father in the heavens |
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 16:18 κἀγὼ δέ σοι λέγω ὅτι σὺ εἶ Πέτρος καὶ ἐπὶ ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ οἰκοδομήσω μου τὴν ἐκκλησίαν καὶ πύλαι ᾅδου οὐ κατισχύσουσιν αὐτῆς
18 And I say also to you, That you art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. |
Mat 16:18 now I am saying to you that you are Peter and upon this a rock I shall be building my church and the gates of hell they shall be prevailing against not it |

Mat 16:19 καὶ δώσω σοι τὰς κλεῖς τῆς βασιλείας τῶν οὐρανῶν καὶ ὃ ἐὰν δήσῃς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται δεδεμένον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς καὶ ὃ ἐὰν λύσῃς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται λελυμένον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς
19 And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever you shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. |
Mat 16:19 and I shall be giving to you the keys of the kingdom of the heavens and what ever you should be binding upon the earth it shall be bound in the heavens and what ever you shall be loosing upon the earth it shall be loosed in the heavens |
Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Mat 16:20 τότε διεστείλατο τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ἵνα μηδενὶ εἴπωσιν ὅτι αὐτός ἐστιν Ἰησοῦς ὁ Χριστός
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ. |

Mat 16:21 Ἀπὸ τότε ἤρξατο ὁ Ἰησοῦς δεικνύειν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ὅτι δεῖ αὐτὸν ἀπελθεῖν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα καὶ πολλὰ παθεῖν ἀπὸ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων καὶ ἀρχιερέων καὶ γραμματέων καὶ ἀποκτανθῆναι καὶ τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ ἐγερθῆναι
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew to his disciples, how that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. |
Mat 16:21 from then Jesus begins to be showing his disciples that he must be going into Jerusalem and to be suffering much from the elders and priests and scribes and to be killed and to be raised the third day |
Mat 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Mat 16:22 καὶ προσλαβόμενος αὐτὸν ὁ Πέτρος ἤρξατο ἐπιτιμᾶν αὐτῷ λέγων, Ἵλεώς σοι κύριε· οὐ μὴ ἔσται σοι τοῦτο
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from you, Lord: this shall not be to you. |
Mat 16:22 and Peter taking him begins to be rebuking him saying too far for you Lord for this shall be not for you |
Mat 16:22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
Mat 16:23 ὁ δὲ στραφεὶς εἶπεν τῷ Πέτρῳ Ὕπαγε ὀπίσω μου Σατανᾶ· σκάνδαλον μου, εἶ ὅτι οὐ φρονεῖς τὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ἀλλὰ τὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων
23 But he turned, and said to Peter, Get you behind me, Satan: you art an offence to me: for you savours not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. |
Mat 16:23 now On being turned to Peter You must be going after me Satan that you are my offence you are thinking not of God howbeit of men |
Mat 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Mat 16:24 Τότε ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ Εἴ τις θέλει ὀπίσω μου ἐλθεῖν ἀπαρνησάσθω ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἀράτω τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀκολουθείτω μοι
24 Then said Jesus to his disciples, If any |
Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus of his disciples anyone willing to be coming after me he must deny himself and must take up his cross and must be following me |
Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mat 16:25 ὃς γὰρ ἂν θέλῃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ σῶσαι ἀπολέσει αὐτήν· ὃς δ' ἂν ἀπολέσῃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ εὑρήσει αὐτήν
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. |
Mat 16:25 for who ever should be willing to save his soul shall be destroying her now who ever should be destroying his soul because of of me shall be findng her |

Mat 16:26 τί γὰρ ὠφελεῖται ἄνθρωπος ἐὰν τὸν κόσμον ὅλον κερδήσῃ τὴν δὲ ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ζημιωθῇ ἢ τί δώσει ἄνθρωπος ἀντάλλαγμα τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτοῦ
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? |
Mat 16:26 for what man is being profited if ever he should be gaining the whole world now should he be losing his soul or what man shall be giving [in] exchange of his soul |

Mat 16:27 μέλλει γὰρ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἔρχεσθαι ἐν τῇ δόξῃ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ μετὰ τῶν ἀγγέλων αὐτοῦ καὶ τότε ἀποδώσει ἑκάστῳ κατὰ τὴν πρᾶξιν αὐτοῦ
27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. |
Mat 16:27 for the Son of man should be coming in the glory of his Father with his angels and then he shall be giving every according to his deed |

Mat 16:28 ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν εἰσίν τινες τῶν ὧδε ἑστηκότων, οἵτινες οὐ μὴ γεύσωνται θανάτου ἕως ἂν ἴδωσιν τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐρχόμενον ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ
28 Verily I say to you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. |
Mat 16:28 amen I am saying to you there are some having stood here who not they should be tasting death ever until they should be seeing the Son of man coming in his Kingdom |
