Mat 5:1 Ἰδὼν δὲ τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος καὶ καθίσαντος αὐτοῦ προσῆλθον αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ·

1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came to him:

3 Blessed [(<color blue>are)] the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. </color>

11 Blessed are you, when [(<color blue>men)] shall revile you, and persecute [(you)], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. </color>

Mat 5:11 bless are you when ever they should be reproaching you and should be persecuting and they should be saying every evil word against you falsely because of of me

Mat 5:12 χαίρετε καὶ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε ὅτι μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς· οὕτως γὰρ ἐδίωξαν τοὺς προφήτας τοὺς πρὸ ὑμῶν

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [(<color blue>is)] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. </color>

Mat 5:13 Ὑμεῖς ἐστε τὸ ἅλας τῆς γῆς· ἐὰν δὲ τὸ ἅλας μωρανθῇ ἐν τίνι ἁλισθήσεται εἰς οὐδὲν ἰσχύει ἔτι εἰ μὴ βληθῆναι ἔξω καὶ καταπατεῖσθαι ὑπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων

13 You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Mat 5:13 you are the salt of the earth now if ever the salt should be being foolish in what shall it be salted yet it is being strengthened into no one to be casted away and to be trampled under the men

14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Mat 5:15 οὐδὲ καίουσιν λύχνον καὶ τιθέασιν αὐτὸν ὑπὸ τὸν μόδιον ἀλλ' ἐπὶ τὴν λυχνίαν καὶ λάμπει πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light to all that are in the house.

Mat 5:16 οὕτως λαμψάτω τὸ φῶς ὑμῶν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων ὅπως ἴδωσιν ὑμῶν τὰ καλὰ ἔργα καὶ δοξάσωσιν τὸν πατέρα ὑμῶν τὸν ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Mat 5:19 ὃς ἐὰν οὖν λύσῃ μίαν τῶν ἐντολῶν τούτων τῶν ἐλαχίστων καὶ διδάξῃ οὕτως τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ἐλάχιστος κληθήσεται ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν· ὃς δ' ἂν ποιήσῃ καὶ διδάξῃ οὗτος μέγας κληθήσεται ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [(<color blue>them)], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. </color>

Mat 5:19 who if ever therefore should be breaking one least of these commandments and should be teaching men thus he shall be called one of the least in the kingdom of the heavens now who ever should be making and should be teaching this shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens

Mat 5:20 λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν μὴ περισσεύσῃ δικαιοσύνη ὑμῶν πλεῖον τῶν γραμματέων καὶ Φαρισαίων οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν

20 For I say to you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [(<color blue>the righteousness)] of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. </color>

Mat 5:20 for I am saying to you that your righteousness should be exceeding not more the scribes and Pharisees you shall be entering not into the kingdom of the heavens

Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:21 Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη τοῖς ἀρχαίοις Οὐ φονεύσεις· ὃς δ' ἂν φονεύσῃ ἔνοχος ἔσται τῇ κρίσει

21 You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgement:

Mat 5:21 you hear that it was commanded for old ones you shall be murdering not now who ever should be killing shall be guilty of the judgment

Mat 5:22 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πᾶς ὀργιζόμενος τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ εἰκῆ ἔνοχος ἔσται τῇ κρίσει· ὃς δ' ἂν εἴπῃ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ Ῥακά ἔνοχος ἔσται τῷ συνεδρίῳ· ὃς δ' ἂν εἴπῃ Μωρέ ἔνοχος ἔσται εἰς τὴν γέενναν τοῦ πυρός

22 But I say to you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Mat 5:22 now I am saying to you that all vainly angered after his brother shall be guilty with the judgment now who ever should be saying Raca of his brother he shall be guilty of the council now who ever should be saying foolish shall be guilty [for] the fire of hell

Mat 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Mat 5:23 ἐὰν οὖν προσφέρῃς τὸ δῶρόν σου ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον κἀκεῖ μνησθῇς ὅτι ἀδελφός σου ἔχει τι κατὰ σοῦ

23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remembers that your brother hath ought against you;

Mat 5:23 therefore if ever you should be offering your gift upon the altar and there you should be remembering that your brother is having something against you

Mat 5:24 ἄφες ἐκεῖ τὸ δῶρόν σου ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου καὶ ὕπαγε πρῶτον διαλλάγηθι τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου καὶ τότε ἐλθὼν πρόσφερε τὸ δῶρόν σου

24 Leave there your gift before the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

Mat 5:24 there you must leave your gift before the altar and you must depart first you must be reconciled your with brother and then on coming you must be offering your gift

Mat 5:25 ἴσθι εὐνοῶν τῷ ἀντιδίκῳ σου ταχὺ ἕως ὅτου εἶ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ μετ' αὐτοῦ μήποτέ σε παραδῷ ἀντίδικος τῷ κριτῇ καὶ κριτὴς σε παραδῷ τῷ ὑπηρέτῃ καὶ εἰς φυλακὴν βληθήσῃ·

25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles you art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.

Mat 5:25 You must give [an] agreement by your adversary quickly until while you are in the way with him lest the adversary should be betray you the to judge and the judge he should betray you to the officer and you should be cast into prison

Mat 5:25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

Mat 5:26 ἀμὴν λέγω σοι οὐ μὴ ἐξέλθῃς ἐκεῖθεν ἕως ἂν ἀποδῷς τὸν ἔσχατον κοδράντην

26 Verily I say to you, You shalt by no means come out thence, till you hast paid the uttermost farthing.

Mat 5:26 I am saying amen to you you sould be coming not thence until ever you should be delivering the last farthing

Mat 5:27 Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη τοῖς ἀρχαίοις, Οὐ μοιχεύσεις

27 You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shalt not commit adultery:

Mat 5:28 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πᾶς βλέπων γυναῖκα πρὸς τὸ ἐπιθυμῆσαι αὐτῆς ἤδη ἐμοίχευσεν αὐτὴν ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ

28 But I say to you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Mat 5:28 now I am saying to you that everyone looking towards a woman to desire her is [making] adultery [with] her already in his heart

Mat 5:29 εἰ δὲ ὀφθαλμός σου δεξιὸς σκανδαλίζει σε ἔξελε αὐτὸν καὶ βάλε ἀπὸ σοῦ· συμφέρει γάρ σοι ἵνα ἀπόληται ἓν τῶν μελῶν σου καὶ μὴ ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου βληθῇ εἰς γέενναν

29 And if your right eye offend you, pluck it out, and cast [(<color blue>it)] from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not [(that)] your whole body should be cast into hell. </color>

Mat 5:29 now if your right side eye is offending you you must be delivering and you must be casting it from you for it is expedient for you that one of your members should be destroyed and your whole body should be cast not into hell

30 And if your right hand offend you, cut it off, and cast [(<color blue>it)] from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not [(that)] your whole body should be cast into hell. </color>

Mat 5:30 and if your right side hand offends you you must cut it and you must be casting from you for it is expedient for you that one of your members should be destroyed and your whole body should be cast not into hell

31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

Mat 5:32 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ὃς ἂν ἀπολύσῃ τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ παρεκτὸς λόγου πορνείας ποιεῖ αὐτὴν μοιχᾶσθαι, καὶ ὃς ἐὰν ἀπολελυμένην γαμήσῃ μοιχᾶται

32 But I say to you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced commits adultery.

Mat 5:32 now I am saying to you that who ever should be releasing his wife except the after a word of fornication is making her be adultery and who ever should be marrying one having been released he is being adultry

Mat 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Mat 5:33 Πάλιν ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη τοῖς ἀρχαίοις Οὐκ ἐπιορκήσεις ἀποδώσεις δὲ τῷ κυρίῳ τοὺς ὅρκους σου

33 Again, you have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, You shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform to the Lord thine oaths:

Mat 5:33 Again you hear that it was commanded for the old you shall be foreswearing not now you shall be delivering your oaths to the Lord

Mat 5:34 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν μὴ ὀμόσαι ὅλως· μήτε ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ ὅτι θρόνος ἐστὶν τοῦ θεοῦ

34 But I say to you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

Mat 5:34 now I am saying to you to swear not utterly neither in the heaven that it is of God's throne

Mat 5:35 μήτε ἐν τῇ γῇ ὅτι ὑποπόδιόν ἐστιν τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ μήτε εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ὅτι πόλις ἐστὶν τοῦ μεγάλου βασιλέως

35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

36 Neither shalt you swear by your head, because you canst not make one hair white or black.

Mat 5:36 neither should you be swearing in your head because you are able not to make one hair white or black

Mat 5:37 ἔστω δὲ λόγος ὑμῶν ναὶ ναί οὒ οὔ· τὸ δὲ περισσὸν τούτων ἐκ τοῦ πονηροῦ ἐστιν

37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these comes of evil.

Mat 5:37 now your word must be yea yea not not now more after these is of the evil one

38 You have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

Mat 5:38 You hear that its being commanded an eye [in place of] an eye and a tooth [in place of] a tooth

Mat 5:39 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν μὴ ἀντιστῆναι τῷ πονηρῷ· ἀλλ' ὅστις σε ῥαπίσει ἐπί τὴν δεξιὰν σου σιαγόνα στρέψον αὐτῷ καὶ τὴν ἄλλην·

39 But I say to you, That you resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Mat 5:39 now I am saying to you be resisiting not evil howbeit whosoever shall smite you upon your the right side cheek you must turn to him the other

Mat 5:40 καὶ τῷ θέλοντί σοι κριθῆναι καὶ τὸν χιτῶνά σου λαβεῖν ἄφες αὐτῷ καὶ τὸ ἱμάτιον·

40 And if any man will sue you at the law, and take away your coat, let him have [(<color blue>your)] cloak also. </color>

Mat 5:40 and the one desiring to be judged for you and to be receiving your coat you must leave for him the garment

Mat 5:41 καὶ ὅστις σε ἀγγαρεύσει μίλιον ἕν ὕπαγε μετ' αὐτοῦ δύο

41 And whosoever shall compel you to go a mile, go with him twain.

Mat 5:41 and whosoever shall compel you one mile you must go with him two

Mat 5:41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

Mat 5:42 τῷ αἰτοῦντί σε δίδου· καὶ τὸν θέλοντα ἀπὸ σοῦ δανείσασθαι μὴ ἀποστραφῇς

42 Give to him that asks you, and from him that would borrow of you turn not you away.

Mat 5:42 You must be giving to the one asking you and the one willing to borrow from you you should be turning not

Mat 5:42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Mat 5:43 Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη Ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου καὶ μισήσεις τὸν ἐχθρόν σου

43 You have heard that it hath been said, You shalt love your neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

Mat 5:43 You hear that it was commanded you shall be loving your neighbour and you shall be hating your enemy

Mat 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

Mat 5:44 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ἀγαπᾶτε τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ὑμῶν εὐλογειτε τοὺς καταρωμένους ὑμᾶς καλῶς ποιεῖτε τοὺς μισοῦντας ὑμᾶς, καὶ προσεύχεσθε ὑπὲρ τῶν ἐπηρεαζόντων ὑμᾶς, καὶ διωκόντων ὑμᾶς,

44 But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Mat 5:44 now I am saying to you you must be loving your enemies You must be blessing the ones cursing you you must be doing well the ones hating you and you must be praying over the ones despitefully using you and ones persecuting you

Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Mat 5:45 ὅπως γένησθε υἱοὶ τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς ὅτι τὸν ἥλιον αὐτοῦ ἀνατέλλει ἐπὶ πονηροὺς καὶ ἀγαθοὺς καὶ βρέχει ἐπὶ δικαίους καὶ ἀδίκους

45 That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Mat 5:45 Because you should be of the sons of your father in the heavens that raises his sun upon the evil and good ones and it is raining upon righteous ones and unjust ones

Mat 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Mat 5:46 ἐὰν γὰρ ἀγαπήσητε τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας ὑμᾶς τίνα μισθὸν ἔχετε οὐχὶ καὶ οἱ τελῶναι τὸ αὐτὸ ποιοῦσιν

46 For if you love them which love you, what reward have you? do not even the publicans the same?

Mat 5:46 for if ever you should be loving the ones loving you what reward are you having and the publicans are they doing not it

Mat 5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

Mat 5:47 καὶ ἐὰν ἀσπάσησθε τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ὑμῶν μόνον τί περισσὸν ποιεῖτε οὐχὶ καὶ οἱ τελῶναι οὕτως ποιοῦσιν

47 And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more [(<color blue>than others)]? do not even the publicans so? </color>

Mat 5:47 and if ever you should be embracing your brothers only what are you doing more are doing not and the publicans thus

Mat 5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Mat 5:48 Ἔσεσθε οὖν ὑμεῖς τέλειοι ὡσπερ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς τέλειός ἐστιν

48 Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Mat 5:48 therefore you shall be perfect even as after your father in the heavens is perfect

Mat 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
